Proof that some of the most impactful mentoring moments happen far beyond everyday routines, the “Bigs” and “Littles” of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey (BBBSCNNJ) recently shared an unforgettable experience. The mentorship matches attended a live FIFA World Cup 2026 match at NYNJ Stadium, enjoying a historic day filled with cheering, global camaraderie and lasting memories.
The special outing offered the youth an opportunity to experience an international sporting event firsthand, creating shared memories designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and inspire them to dream big.
The extraordinary experience was made possible through the support of New Jersey Gov. Mikie Sherrill, whom the organization thanked for granting the matches a front-row seat to history in the making.
According to BBBSCNNJ, special excursions like the World Cup trip serve as a vital extension of their core mission. Rather than focusing solely on routine conversations, the organization emphasizes the immense value of unique, shared cultural and athletic milestones.
Witnessing the international spectacle alongside fans from across the globe allowed the “Littles” to expand their horizons and witness a world larger than they had previously imagined.
A full photo album documenting the matches’ exciting day at NYNJ Stadium, complete with detailed captions, has been made available by the organization.
The World Cup outing arrives as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Coastal & Northern New Jersey celebrates its landmark 50th year of regional impact. For five decades, the organization has worked to transform the lives of children by pairing them with caring adult volunteers in professionally supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships.
By fostering these strong foundational bonds, BBBSCNNJ empowers young people to overcome challenges and grow into confident, capable, and compassionate members of society.
