In recognition of Diaper Need Awareness Week, the Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) has officially launched its sixth annual #GreatBigDiaperDrive. The statewide initiative aims to tackle mounting diaper insecurity across the region, where economic pressures have forced many families into impossible choices between basic essentials.
According to recent data, nearly 1 in 2 U.S. families struggle to afford enough diapers to keep their children clean, dry, and healthy. Compounding the crisis, 34% of households facing diaper insecurity report skipping meals entirely so they can afford diapers for their children.
As the rising costs of food, housing, utilities, and childcare stretch working households to their limits, an increasing number of families are turning to local food pantries for help. Because diapers and other non-food essentials are not covered by federal assistance programs like SNAP or WIC, initiatives like the #GreatBigDiaperDrive play a critical role in bridging the gap.
Since the campaign’s inception in 2021, CFBNJ’s North and South Jersey Women Fighting Hunger groups have mobilized communities to collect funds and physical donations equivalent to more than 1 million diapers for New Jersey families.
The drive collects physical supplies—including diapers of all sizes, wipes, and creams—which are then distributed directly to local pantries for neighbors in need.

- Host a Drive: Organize an in-person or virtual diaper drive within your workplace, school, or community group.
- Donate Supplies: Collect diapers and related infant care products.

- Make a Financial Contribution: Monetary donations go exceptionally far due to CFBNJ’s bulk purchasing power—every $1 donated helps provide six diapers to a family in need.
