CSG Law’s inaugural Veteran Internship Program bridges gap for former air force mechanic

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (CSG Law) announced the successful conclusion of its inaugural Veterans’ Internship Program, which is designed to assist former service members in transitioning to the civilian workforce.

The firm welcomed Andrew Spillone, a former U.S. Air Force mechanic who served as a crew chief on the F-15E Strike Eagle. Spillone spent his internship rotating through various non-legal departments, including finance, marketing, information technology and facilities, gaining hands-on experience in the corporate operation of a major law firm.

Spillone described the opportunity as “eye-opening to the world of law,” noting that the firm did more to help with his transition than he could have imagined. He contrasted his military role—where he was “covered in grease, fluids, and fuel” maintaining fighter jets—with his new professional setting.

“Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC really did an excellent job at bridging the gap many veterans struggle with,” Spillone said. “The unknown is always a scary aspect, but I can say the firm made the unknown fun and rewarding.”

He emphasized that the program provided both expanded professional skills and a “sense of purpose” for his next career steps, praising the firm’s supportive culture.

“The firm’s commitment to supporting veterans is more than just a statement, it is something you can feel day-to-day,” Spillone concluded, expressing hope that more veterans will look to the firm for assistance with their career transition.
