Rottenstrich named chair of Fair Lawn Main Street

Appointed of former mayor comes at key time (group recently was awarded $1.45M grant) for an organization that serves as a model for others

Former Fair Lawn Mayor Gail Rottenstrich was elected as chair of the board of directors of Fair Lawn Main Street Inc, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and coordinating efforts to strengthen Fair Lawn’s economic and commercial vitality.

The organization, which also manages the Borough’s two Special Improvement Districts — designated areas within the municipality where dedicated assessments are used to support economic development and enhance overall district vitality — has a big impact on the town.

Abigail Polizois, co-founder and partner at The Legacy Development Group, was elected vice chair. Robert Godfrey, a Fair Lawn resident and member of the Fair Lawn Zoning Board, was elected treasurer.

It is a pivotal moment for the organization, which serves as a model for others.

Recently, the Borough of Fair Lawn was awarded a $1.455 million Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside Grant to support revitalization initiatives within the Broadway Special Improvement District.

Rottenstrich said she is eager to get going.

“We are grateful to the Murphy Administration, the New Jersey Department of Transportation, and the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority for awarding this grant to our community,” she said.

“This investment reflects a forward-thinking approach to strengthening Fair Lawn’s Broadway commercial corridor and demonstrates how the Borough, through Fair Lawn Main Street Inc., effectively partners across all levels of government to deliver meaningful results for our local economy.”

In 2024, Fair Lawn was selected to participate in the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration’s Economic Recovery Corps program. That same year, the New Jersey Economic Development Authority awarded Fair Lawn Main Street Inc. an Asset Activation and Planning Grant, which supported early planning efforts that helped advance the Broadway corridor revitalization initiatives now funded by the Transportation Alternatives grant.
