Public Service Enterprise Group released its 2025 Community Impact Update this week, reporting an estimated $16.3 billion in total economic output for New Jersey and detailing the company’s spending, investment and philanthropic activity in the state.
According to the report, PSEG spent $2.4 billion with New Jersey-based suppliers and vendors in 2025 and gave about $12.8 million in philanthropic contributions.
In addition, the company paid $37 million in property taxes in the state last year, part of its broader annual tax payments.
PSEG also has a regulated capital investment program of $22.5 billion to $25.5 billion planned through 2030 for infrastructure and reliability improvements.
PSEG operates the state’s only nuclear power plants, which the company says supply more than 40% of New Jersey’s electricity and over 80% of its carbon-free energy. The report states the plants contribute about $1.2 billion annually to the state’s GDP and are a significant economic presence in the Salem County region where they’re located.
The report also states that PSEG’s energy efficiency programs have helped customers save more than $1 billion annually.
Rick Thigpen, PSEG’s senior vice president of corporate citizenship, said the numbers speak to the mission and the vision of the company.
“Public service is not just our name, it’s our purpose, it guides our work and enhances our value to New Jersey,” he said. “The 2025 Community Impact Update demonstrates how this business and its employees promote prosperity and strengthen communities across the state while supporting a more reliable energy future.”
PSEG officials say the company plans to release a separate 2026 Sustainability Report in the coming weeks, which the company says will include more detailed data on workforce development, environmental stewardship, customer affordability and its nuclear operations.
Among the figures the company says will be included: a 95% reduction in operational emissions from a 2005 baseline, more than 91% of utility-generated waste recycled in 2025, and details on the impact of a $1.5 million community relief initiative the company funded in December 2025.
PSEG, founded more than 120 years ago, is the parent company of PSE&G, New Jersey’s largest utility, serving 2.4 million electric customers and 1.9 million gas customers statewide. The company employs roughly 13,000 people, the majority of whom live in the communities they serve, according to the report.
