Wall Township-based independent financial advisory firm ICG next has announced a multi-year funding commitment to establish the ICG next Annual Scholarship Fund at Rowan University. Housed within the William G. Rohrer College of Business, the scholarship will provide vital annual financial support to students pursuing a major or minor in financial planning.
The new partnership highlights a growing trend of New Jersey wealth management firms investing in higher education to cultivate future talent for the financial services industry.
“Financial planning is a profession built around relationships, trust and helping people make informed decisions about their futures,” James Costabile, managing partner of ICG next, said. “We believe it is important to invest in the next generation of professionals who will carry that responsibility forward. Supporting students at Rowan gives us an opportunity to help talented young people pursue careers in a field that can have a meaningful impact on individuals, families and communities.”
Rowan University’s School of Financial Planning, powered by and in partnership with Edelman Financial Engines, prepares students for careers across wealth management, tax planning, retirement, and investment strategies. The program leverages close industry alliances to offer students mentorship, internships, and networking opportunities.
Dr. Matt Sarkees, dean of the William G. Rohrer College of Business, emphasized the importance of aligning higher education with industry needs.
“What we are seeing is the beginning of something much bigger,” Sarkees said. “Financial planning firms are recognizing that they have a stake in developing the talent they will need in the years ahead. ICG next’s commitment demonstrates the value of bringing industry and higher education together to invest in students and their futures.”
Ric Edelman, founding head of the School of Financial Planning, also welcomed the partnership, noting that corporate investments directly shape the career trajectories of tomorrow’s fiduciary advisors.
“The growing support we are receiving from financial planning firms demonstrates the profession’s commitment to developing the next generation of talent,” Edelman said. “ICG next’s investment will make a meaningful difference for Rowan students while strengthening the connection between our students and the professionals who will help shape their careers.”
