BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company), a Franklin Lakes-based medical technology company on Tuesday announced that Gary Sorsher has been appointed executive vice president and chief quality officer, effective Sept. 8.
Sorsher succeeds Jeffrey (Jeff) Silvestri, senior vice president and global head of quality, who is set to retire in October after more than 25 years with the enterprise.
Sorsher brings more than 30 years of executive quality leadership experience across top-tier medical technology organizations. Most recently, he served as chief quality officer at Edwards Lifesciences, where he spearheaded global quality excellence initiatives, supported rapid corporate growth, and optimized complex operational systems while maintaining a relentless focus on patient safety and product reliability.

Sorsher’s appointment follows the planned retirement of Jeff Silvestri, who joined BD in 1998 and played a foundational role in building, strengthening, and scaling the company’s enterprise-wide quality systems over more than two decades.
“I’d also like to thank Jeff for the contributions he has made to our company and wish him well in his retirement,” Polen added.
