Cooper University Health Care has achieved the highest level of recognition in specialized neurological care, earning a three-year Level 4 Epilepsy Center accreditation from the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) for the 2026 through 2028 term.
The Level 4 designation is awarded exclusively to centers that provide the most advanced medical and surgical evaluations and treatments for patients suffering from complex seizure disorders. Operating through Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience, the Cooper Epilepsy Center stands as one of the most comprehensive programs in South Jersey, delivering pediatric and adult care designed for long-term management of difficult cases.
“This Level 4 accreditation reflects the expertise and dedication of our entire epilepsy team and our commitment to providing the highest level of care for patients with epilepsy,” Dr. Evren Burakgazi-Dalkilic, a neurologist with Cooper and Inspira Neuroscience, said.
“For patients and families, it means access to the most advanced epilepsy care available close to home, including comprehensive diagnostic testing, individualized treatment plans, and evaluation by a multidisciplinary team of epilepsy specialists.”
Burakgazi-Dalkilic added that the recognition highlights the center’s capability to manage treatment-resistant epilepsy while helping patients achieve a better quality of life.
The Cooper Epilepsy Center utilizes a collaborative, team-based approach, bringing together:
- Neurologists and nurse practitioners
- EEG technicians and neuropsychologists
- Psychiatrists and social workers
For patients whose seizures do not respond adequately to medication, the center provides a full spectrum of advanced interventions, including:
- Dietary therapies and specialized medications
- Epilepsy surgery for refractory seizure disorders
- Neuromodulation therapies, such as: Vagus nerve stimulation (VNS), Responsive neurostimulation (RNS), and Deep brain stimulation (DBS)
