Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the U.S. Yet studies and surveys show many women don’t know their risk for it — or how habits formed in their 20s and 30s can protect or harm their health in midlife and beyond.
Holy Name Medical Center wants to change that.
The Teaneck hospital will host its second annual Women’s Health Symposium from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Oct. 18, at the Teaneck Marriott at Glenpointe. This year’s theme is “Navigating Women’s Health Through Every Stage of Life.”
Chaired by Dr. Sharyn Lewin, director of gynecology at Holy Name, the free event will bring together clinicians, researchers, registered dietitians, physical therapists and community partners to give women practical information on prevention, making informed decisions and advocating for themselves and their families.
The keynote comes from Dr. Eleonora Spinazzi, a cerebrovascular neurosurgeon at Holy Name, who will speak on “Protecting Your Brain Through Every Stage of Life.”
A Lunch & Learn panel, “Let’s Talk Women’s Health: The Issues Shaping 2026,” will tackle heart health, mental health, weight management and integrative approaches to perimenopause and menopause symptoms.
Breakout sessions will cover topics such as how exercise supports whole-body health, eating for the microbiome and brain health, therapeutic updates in Alzheimer’s disease and getting the most out of a visit to the pediatrician. Attendees also will learn about breast cancer prevention and pelvic health.
The day includes meditation, yoga and a nature walk, along with an exhibition area where attendees can talk with providers.
The event is free, but registration is required. Click here.
