As Breast Cancer Awareness Month begins, communities across Essex County are preparing to lace up their sneakers for a vital cause. The Cure Breast Cancer Foundation (CBCF) is hosting its inaugural Hope Hustle 5K on Oct. 3, at historic Brookdale Park, inviting individuals of all ages and athletic abilities to turn movement into momentum against the disease.
The event aims to unite families, corporate teams, fitness groups, and survivors for a crisp autumn morning dedicated to a future without breast cancer.
“Breast cancer touches so many of our lives… Every single registration directly fuels scientific research that brings us closer to a cure,” Laela Perkins, executive director of the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation, said.

Direct impact: 100% of proceeds from the event will directly fund groundbreaking research initiatives at Memorial Sloan Kettering supported by CBCF.

A proven legacy: Since its founding in 2007, CBCF has raised more than $13 million to support leading scientists working to understand how breast cancer develops, spreads, and recurs.
Set against the vibrant fall foliage of Brookdale Park, the scenic inner-loop course caters to everyone from competitive runners to casual walkers and families pushing strollers.
