Reckitt is putting its money where its headquarters is.
The consumer health and hygiene giant announced Tuesday it’s investing up to $600 million in a multi-year transformation of its U.S. operations across two sites, with New Jersey positioned as the anchor.
The plan builds directly on a move Reckitt made just months ago, relocating its North American headquarters from Parsippany to the ON3 campus in Nutley this past January. Now the company is going further, establishing a new science and innovation center on that same New Jersey campus — one designed to become a global “germ protection hub” supporting brands like Lysol.
Reckitt now employs more than 4,000 people across seven manufacturing sites and three science and innovation centers nationally.
The new New Jersey center will bring the company’s commercial and R&D teams together in one place — R&D staff currently based in Montvale will relocate to the Nutley campus — with a focus on disinfection, microbiology, surface care, laundry care and personal care.
Reckitt North America President Jerome Lemaire noted the company’s more than century-long commitment to the U.S.
“With a legacy dating to 1892, Reckitt has maintained a significant presence across the U.S. for more than a century,” he said. “Our iconic brands including Lysol and Mucinex are trusted by millions of American families spanning generations.
“Today’s investments will continue building our scientific leadership and R&D, drive new innovations and expand our infrastructure allowing Reckitt to increase access for consumers to high-quality health products.”
The other half of the investment is heading south. Reckitt has doubled its initial funding commitment for its over-the-counter manufacturing facility in North Carolina, which will become the company’s largest OTC plant in the country when it opens in the first half of 2027. The expanded footprint will support additional production capacity for Mucinex tablets and liquids, along with higher production volumes for Move Free.

Reckitt plans to showcase the North America business in more detail at its first U.S. “Reckitt Focus On” event, scheduled for Nov. 19.
