The UMC Foundation (UMCF) has announced the internal promotions of longtime staff members Gary Engelstad and Rebecca Roe, reinforcing its commitment to expanding resources and compassionate care for New Jersey’s aging population.
Led by Vice-President Jim Roberts, the Neptune-based foundation secures critical funding and builds partnerships to support older adults with limited financial means, as well as innovative healthcare and housing programs across the state.

Gary Engelstad Gary Engelstad has been promoted to Senior Director of Giving. With over three decades of experience in nonprofit senior housing and philanthropy, Engelstad will focus on cultivating long-term donor relationships and managing corporate sponsorships alongside the foundation’s major gifts and special events teams.

Rebecca Roe Rebecca Roe steps into her expanded role as Senior Foundation Director. Having served the organization since 2013 across administration, grant funding, and communications, Roe will now take on broader responsibilities encompassing strategic planning, staff management, and cross-functional coordination.
“Since becoming the Foundation’s Vice-President, I’ve been continuously impressed with the unwavering commitment our Director of Transformational Giving, Gary Englestad, and Director of Communications & Stewardship Rebecca Roe have shown to the older adults we serve,” Roberts said. “In recognition of their dedication, and in anticipation of the Foundation’s continued growth, it’s an honor to announce their recent promotions.”
