The Valley Hospital Foundation is gearing up for its fifth annual Step Up for Valley virtual fitness challenge, running from Sept. 26 to Oct. 3. This weeklong, community-driven fundraiser invites participants of all fitness levels to get active while raising vital funds for the Valley Health System.
This year’s event carries a specific and life-saving mission: funding comprehensive cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for the local community.
A personal mission for a life-saving cause
The focus on CPR training hits close to home for event founder and Foundation Trustee Jeff Seidler. In 2021, at just 37 years old, Seidler suffered a heart attack. He credits his survival to his wife’s quick action in performing CPR while waiting for first responders to arrive.
“I’m incredibly grateful to Valley, and to all the people who were integral in saving my life,” Seidler said. “I’m thankful to be alive. Every day now is the best day of my life.”
By supporting this year’s challenge, participants help equip more community members with the critical emergency skills needed to respond in high-stakes situations.
How the challenge works
- Dates: September 26 through October 3.
- Participation: Individuals can register solo or form teams with friends, family, and colleagues.
- Registration Fee: $25 per person, with additional sponsorship opportunities available.
- Platform Features: Participants receive customized fundraising pages to track steps, monitor donations, and share their milestones on social media.
