When Denise Fernandes, president of the New Jersey chapter of the Women’s Economic Forum, describes the impact of the organization, she starts with this: “It is more than an event — it is a platform for connection, inspiration, and global visibility.”
Fernandes’ New Jersey chapter will hold its fourth annual event Sept. 19 at Felician University, with Lt. Gov. Dale Caldwell delivering the sole keynote address.
WEF New Jersey is a local branch of a global platform that operates in more than 150 countries, built around connecting and promoting women in business, leadership, entrepreneurship and community work.
“The event brings together accomplished women, leaders, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to share their voices, ideas, and experiences,” Fernandes said. “Most importantly, it creates an opportunity to showcase the extraordinary women of New Jersey on a global stage. When women come together, we don’t just inspire one another — we create opportunities, strengthen our economy, and shape the future.”
The organization describes its mission as creating a space where women can be “seen, heard, connected, and empowered to lead,” bringing together entrepreneurs, professionals and executives for networking and speaker sessions.
Union County Commissioner Lourdes Leon will be honored at the event. She’ll be joined among the award recipients by a number of small business leaders.
