MAD Global Strategy, a prominent bipartisan public affairs firm, announced on Wednesday the Brandon Patterson has joined its New York office as senior vice president. Patterson joins the firm following a distinguished career in corporate government affairs and state-level policy.
Patterson arrives at MAD Global with a deep background in the technology and creative sectors, having most recently led State and Local Government Affairs at Spotify. During his tenure at the streaming giant, he managed complex 50-state policy strategies, notably securing critical carveouts in social media legislation and negotiating high-stakes consumer affairs policy in New York. Prior to his time at Spotify, Patterson directed Northeast Government Affairs operations for Salesforce.
“Brandon is a highly regarded government affairs strategist with extensive experience across both the public and private sectors,” Mike DuHaime, founder and CEO of MAD Global Strategy said. “We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team, and we know his unique expertise in state legislation and government relations will bring tremendous value to our clients.”
Patterson is widely recognized as a specialist in the intersection of corporate interests and emerging technology regulation, with particular expertise in:
- Artificial Intelligence: Navigating the rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.
- Consumer Protection: Designing frameworks that balance business operations with public interest.
- Multi-State Advocacy: Managing complex regulatory environments across regional and national frameworks.
A career built at the statehouse
Before transitioning into the private sector, Patterson served in senior leadership roles within the New York State Senate. This legislative background earned him a reputation as a hands-on problem solver—a skill set he intends to apply to MAD Global’s diverse roster of clients.
“Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about helping organizations navigate the policy landscape and achieve meaningful outcomes,” Patterson said. “I’m excited to join such a talented team and utilize my experience in government affairs and public policy to help clients create new opportunities and solve challenges.”
Alex Voetsch, managing director at MAD Global, emphasized that Patterson’s local influence will be a key asset for the firm’s New York operations. “Brandon is highly regarded for his strategic insights in both New York politics and the business sector,” Voetsch noted.
Patterson holds a Master of Public Administration from Baruch College and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University at Albany. In addition to his professional responsibilities, he remains active in the nonprofit sector, serving on various boards to provide governance and strategic oversight.
