Pru Center’s big run: Four sellouts in five nights

Newark arena packed for Shakira, Megan Moroney, A$AP Rocky and Benson Boone — with more big shows to come this summer

Big crowds, big events, big economic impact in New Jersey?

Sure, the World Cup has been doing just that. But don’t forget about the Prudential
Center.

The venue had a runup to Sunday’s World Cup final, with four sellouts of top performers
in a recent five-day span.

Shakira, perhaps in a warmup for her halftime show in front of a global audience of
billions at the final, performed last Tuesday before about 13,000 fans.

She wasn’t the only top act.

Megan Moroney (July 10), A$AP Rocky (July 11) and Benson Boone (July 13) also performed before packed houses.

Sean Saadeh, Chief Programming Officer and Head of Entertainment, Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, said the run of four sold-out shows in five days shows of the arena is worthy of its reputation as being one of the nation’s premier live entertainment destinations.

“It has been a tremendous start to the summer for us here at Prudential Center,” he
said. “Coming off our recent run of four consecutive sold-out shows featuring some of
the biggest artists in the world, the resounding message from the artists and their teams
has been how great New Jersey crowds are.

“For those fans, we look forward to continuing to deliver one of the most diverse event
schedules in the country throughout the rest of the summer and beyond.”
