Industry veteran Joseph Aboyoun joins CSG Law’s corporate group

Chiesa Shahinian & Giantomasi PC (CSG Law) announced that seasoned attorney Joseph Aboyoun has joined the firm’s Corporate Group as a member. Aboyoun brings more than four decades of specialized legal experience, particularly within the automotive and dealership sectors.

Aboyoun is widely recognized for his extensive knowledge of the automotive industry, having spent his career guiding clients through complex legal and commercial landscapes. His practice focuses on critical areas including:

  • Franchise Law: Compliance, dealer rights, and franchise system acquisitions.
  • Dispute Resolution: Handling franchise protests, terminations, and mediation processes.
  • Strategic Agreements: Negotiating site control agreements, succession arrangements, and updating finance agreements with lenders.

“Joe is the go-to guy for leaders in the automotive industry,” Frank Giantomasi, co-chair of the Executive Committee at CSG Law, said. “His legal acumen and insight will further expand the services offered to clients, helping to guide them through transactions and disputes.”

Prior to joining CSG Law, Aboyoun served as a partner at a national firm and was a co-founder of a boutique law firm dedicated to automotive law. His arrival bolsters CSG Law’s Corporate Group, which currently consists of over 20 attorneys serving a diverse clientele—from closely-held businesses to Fortune 500 companies.

“Joe is an outstanding addition to the firm whose experience will blend seamlessly with CSG Law’s Corporate Group, enhancing the services provided to clients,” Jeff Chiesa, co-chair of the Executive Committee added. “CSG Law’s continued expansion underlines the firm’s commitment to growing strategically to best serve our clients.”

Beyond his legal practice, Aboyoun is a prominent voice in the industry. He is a frequent lecturer on the sale and purchase of automotive dealerships and has contributed extensively to the Franchise Law Journal, the Automotive Buy Sell Report, and the New Jersey Lawyer. He has also served as a thought leader for the National Association of Dealer Counsel (NADC) and the American Bar Association Forum Committee on Franchising.

“I’m excited to join the outstanding team at CSG Law,” Aboyoun said. “I have known, respected, and worked with many of the attorneys here for many years. They are superbly qualified to handle the special challenges of the dealer and of the automotive space.”

Aboyoun holds an LL.M. in Taxation from New York University, a J.D. from Western New England University School of Law, and a B.A. from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
