Riker Danzig LLP has added Megan Kilzy as counsel in its Commercial Litigation Group and White Collar Criminal Defense and Investigations Group — bringing in a former Bergen County prosecutor with deep roots in financial crimes, fraud investigations and complex litigation.
Kilzy spent more than a decade as an Assistant Prosecutor in Bergen County, including a stint as Chief of Financial Crimes, where she handled everything from homicides and cyber investigations to large-scale Ponzi schemes and corporate fraud. She later served as Managing Director in the Emerging Issues & Technology Division of Guidepost Solutions, a global investigations and risk management firm.
Kilzy is a licensed Certified Fraud Examiner and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist.
Michael O’Mullan, Managing Partner at Riker Danzig, said Kilzy’s background puts her in rare company.
“She has spent her career at the center of some of the most complex and consequential matters in financial investigations and litigation navigating intricate investigations and serious financial crimes with skill and precision,” he said.
Charles McKenna, a partner in the firm’s white collar group and former Executive U.S. Attorney in Newark, said what distinguishes Kilzy is her prosecutor’s instincts.
“She understands how investigators think, how cases are built, and how to anticipate the strategies that opposing counsel and government agencies will employ,” he said. “She has seen these cases from every angle.”
Kilzy holds a J.D. from Roger Williams University School of Law and an LL.M. in Intellectual Property from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She received her undergraduate degree from Wellesley College.
