Former Gov. Christie set to headline SNJDC’s 44th Annual Sound Off for South Jersey Conference

Policymakers, business executives, and regional leaders from across New Jersey’s southern counties will gather later this week for the Southern New Jersey Development Council’s (SNJDC) 44th Annual Sound Off for South Jersey Legislative Conference.

The public policy event is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at The Westin Mount Laurel.

A centerpiece of this year’s conference will feature a keynote conversation titled “A Conversation with Former Governor Chris Christie,” focusing on the state of American politics. Moderated by Dominick DiRocco of South Jersey Industries—the event’s title sponsor—the session will also include an interactive audience Q&A.

Coming less than three weeks before the midterm elections, Christie is expected to share his perspectives on the national political landscape, expectations for Washington and Trenton, and insights on energy policy and power supply management.

With employers navigating shifting federal policies, rising energy expenses, and upcoming elections, the conference panels will directly tackle the pressures shaping South Jersey’s economy:

  • Legislative Panel: Opening remarks from Assembly Majority Leader Louis Greenwald will lead into a discussion featuring Senator John Burzichelli and Senator Michael Testa Jr., moderated by Joe Bisicchia of Virtua Health. Topics will include grid reliability, data center energy demands, permitting processes, and the overall cost of doing business in New Jersey.
  • Congressional Fireside Chat: Congressman Donald Norcross and Congressman Herb Conaway will join a discussion moderated by BINJE founder and Editor Tom Bergeron. The conversation will focus on Washington’s legislative impacts, federal health care and tax adjustments, infrastructure funding, and defense and manufacturing investments in South Jersey.

Celebrating 75 years of service, the SNJDC continues to act as a unified voice for more than 300 mid- to large-sized businesses across the southern eight counties, championing sustainable regional growth and economic opportunity.
