In a powerful display of community action against hunger, volunteers from ShopRite of Hunterdon County, Wakefern Food Corp., and Flora Food Group recently teamed up for their fifth annual volunteer event at America’s Grow-a-Row in Pittstown.
Working with swift efficiency, the combined team harvested nearly 110,000 pounds of spaghetti squash for local food banks and neighbors in need. In just 90 minutes, the volunteers cleared an entire field, securing a massive yield of fresh, nutrient-rich produce destined for food-insecure families across the region.
Beyond their time and labor on the farm, the partner organizations presented a $50,000 check donation to support America’s Grow-a-Row and its ongoing mission. The funds will enable the nonprofit to expand its operational reach and continue its vital work connecting fresh, healthy produce with individuals and families facing food insecurity.
The annual collaborative event highlights a sustained, shared commitment among the organizations to combat hunger, promote food access, and support local communities throughout New Jersey.
