Registration is now open for a free, one-day workshop aimed at helping Hudson County’s small business owners grow, DoorDash, the Hudson County Chamber of Commerce and local leaders from Hoboken and Jersey City announced.
The Local Business Workshop, set for Sept. 16, will offer hands-on training on DoorDash’s tools and advertising, education on new AI-powered tools, direct connections to local business support organizations, and networking with peers.
The event builds on DoorDash’s Accelerator for Local Businesses, which has supported more than 400 small businesses nationwide since 2021, and is part of the company’s broader Unlocking Main Street campaign, aimed at making it easier for small businesses to open and grow across the country.
“Our Chamber exists to help local businesses succeed, and this Workshop puts that mission into action,” CEO Emory Edwards said. “These entrepreneurs will walk away with connections that they can count on long after the day ends.”
Alex Spyropoulos, head of New Jersey government relations at DoorDash, said the goal is to help business owners cut through red tape. He said the company was eager to work with Hoboken Mayor Emily Jabbour and Jersey City Mayor James Solomon.
“Too often, red tape is what stands between a small business owner and keeping their business growing,” he said. “By working with Mayor Jabbour, Mayor (James) Solomon, and the Hudson County Chamber, we’re helping Hoboken and Jersey City’s entrepreneurs cut through that friction and get straight to the resources that actually move their business forward.”
To be eligible, businesses in Hoboken and Jersey City must be independently owned, operate a brick-and-mortar storefront, and have three or fewer locations.
