Notre Dame vs. Wisconsin. At Lambeau Field. On Sept. 7. How cool is that? Cool
enough for United Airlines to add extra service between Newark and Green Bay that
weekend.
It’s all part of United’s annual tradition of helping Notre Dame fans in New Jersey get to
Fighting Irish games around the country — a football season ritual the airline has quietly
turned into a scheduling art form.
This fall, United is once again rolling out special nonstop flights tied to some of Notre
Dame’s biggest matchups — including multiple weekends when the airline adds extra
service to South Bend to meet demand from East Coast fans.
For the Lambeau Field game, United will operate additional flights from Newark to
Green Bay (GRB) on Sept. 5-6, with a return on the night of Sept. 7.
The following weekend, when Notre Dame hosts Rice on Sept. 12, United is adding
flights from Newark to South Bend (SBN) on Sept. 11, with returns on Sept. 13.
The pattern continues throughout the fall:
- Michigan State at Notre Dame (Sept. 19): Extra Newark–South Bend flights on
Sept. 18 and Sept. 20. - Stanford at Notre Dame (Oct. 10): Added service from Newark and San
Francisco to South Bend on Oct. 9, with returns Oct. 11. - Miami at Notre Dame (Nov. 7): Extra Newark–South Bend flights on Nov. 6 and
Nov. 8. - Boston College at Notre Dame (Nov. 14): Added Newark–South Bend flights
on Nov. 13 and Nov. 15. - SMU at Notre Dame (Nov. 21): Extra Newark–South Bend flights on Nov. 20
and Nov. 22.
United also is adding flights for other major college matchups around the country —
including Ohio State–Texas, Wisconsin–Penn State, Alabama–Tennessee,
Alabama–LSU, Oregon–Ohio State and Texas–LSU — continuing its strategy of
boosting service to cities hosting marquee games.
United now offers Starlink WiFi on more than 450 aircraft, allowing fans to stream
games, check scores and stay plugged in while traveling, the carrier said, noting that
MileagePlus members get the service for free.
Tickets for all special flights are now available at united.com. Past history makes United
confident they will go fast. They only thing the carrier is unsure of is this: Will United be
adding extra flights to Las Vegas during the last week of January — or when the 2027
National Championship Game is played at Allegiant Stadium.
