Teaneck’s Cognizant and Kohler launch AI-powered transformation in major partnership extension

Cognizant, the global technology leader headquartered in Teaneck, on Thursday announced a multi-year extension of its collaboration with Kohler Co. The renewed agreement marks a pivot toward “agentic” operations, leveraging advanced generative AI and cloud ecosystems to modernize the 150-year-old manufacturer’s global digital foundation.

This expansion follows a successful five-year track record where Cognizant served as a “strategic catalyst,” notably enabling the carve-out of Kohler Energy as a standalone entity in mid-2024.

The partnership now moves beyond standard IT maintenance into the realm of autonomous operations. By integrating Cognizant Neuro® IT Operations, Kohler aims to transition from traditional reactive troubleshooting to a proactive, “self-healing” digital infrastructure.

“We’re excited to co-architect Kohler’s next-generation digital foundation,” Anup Prasad, senior vice president and head of Consumer Business Unit at Cognizant said. “We’re bringing advanced AI capabilities across the digital ecosystem to further enhance performance, resilience, and innovation.”

The agreement covers Kohler’s entire global digital footprint, including enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and the consumer-facing Kohler.com experience.

Focus Area Objective
Generative AI Embedding AI agents into daily workflows to boost technician productivity.
Cloud Management Modernizing data center operations for greater global agility.
Observability Utilizing AI-driven security to anticipate and mitigate cyber threats.
Sustainability Scaling digital solutions that support Kohler’s mission of sustainable living.

The deal comes just months after Eric Tabor assumed the role of Chief Digital Officer at Kohler in August 2025. Tabor, a veteran in cybersecurity and digital transformation, is tasked with simplifying Kohler’s global processes through data-driven innovation.

“This renewed partnership reflects our shared commitment to leveraging technology in pursuit of business excellence,” Tabor stated. “Cognizant’s expertise enables us to respond more effectively to business needs while delivering greater value to our customers.”

The Kohler announcement caps off a high-activity week for Cognizant’s New Jersey headquarters. Earlier this week, the firm announced a partnership with Typeface to modernize marketing via agentic AI and celebrated the first-year milestone of its “Simple, Sophisticated” (S2) technology revamp with Flagstar Bank.

As AI continues to dissolve traditional departmental lines, the Cognizant-Kohler alliance serves as a blueprint for how legacy industrial giants can pivot into the AI era.
