SCYNEXIS appoints Dr. Todd Minga as SVP of Research & Development

Jersey City-based clinical-stage biotechnology firm SCYNEXIS announced the appointment of Dr. Todd Minga as senior vice president of Research & Development, effective Sept. 14.

Minga brings over two decades of clinical and biopharmaceutical experience to the Jersey City-based company, specializing in nephrology, rare disorders, and strategic clinical development.

Minga joins SCYNEXIS from Akebia Therapeutics, where he served as vice president of Medical Affairs and Clinical Development. He has also held leadership roles at Maze Therapeutics and IQVIA, following a 16-year career practicing as a board-certified nephrologist.

In his new role, Minga will spearhead the advancement of the company’s rare disease therapeutics, most notably SCY-770—which has received Orphan Drug designation for the treatment of autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD)—alongside its clinical-stage antifungal program, SCY-247.

SCYNEXIS CEO Dr. David Angulo highlighted Minga’s deep clinical background as a vital asset for executing the company’s development strategies.

“As a nephrologist, the opportunity to help advance SCY-770 for patients with autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease is especially meaningful to me,” Minga said regarding his new appointment.

Minga earned his M.D. from Eastern Virginia Medical School and completed his residency and nephrology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. In connection with his hiring, he received inducement stock options and restricted stock units under the company’s 2015 Inducement Award Plan.
