Mary Makfinsky, a VP and director of business banking at Popular Bank, was named the new chair of the Newark Regional Business Partnership during the group’s recent annual meeting.
Makfinsky said she is eager for the opportunity to have impact.
“It is an honor to step into this role at a moment when NRBP is both celebrating decades of commitment and charting an ambitious path forward,” she said. “I look forward to working with our Board, members, and partners to build on this strong foundation and advance opportunities that benefit the Greater Newark region.”
The NRBP announced other members of its incoming board:
- Mitch Cahn, Unionwear, vice chair
- Napoleon Stephenson, PNC Bank, treasurer
- Sarah Jones, Horizon BCBS, will continue to serve as secretary
- Jennifer Mazawey, K&L Gates, immediate past chair
NRBP also welcomed four new members to its board of directors:

- Ari Fox, Audible
- Robert Johnson, Gibbons PC
- Amar Singer, IPS Security
NRBP CEO Ferlanda Fox Nixon applauded the announcement.
