The Devils Youth Foundation (DYF) recently appointed two prominent figures in the hockey community, Kate Madigan and Nicole Zajac, to its board of directors. The additions are set to bolster the Foundation’s mission of providing New Jersey youth with life-changing opportunities through sports, music, and entertainment.

The appointments were officially announced by Allison Blitzer, chair of the Devils Youth Foundation, who emphasized the expertise and passion both women bring to the organization.

“We are thrilled to welcome Kate and Nicole to the board,” Blitzer said. “These women bring not only a deep knowledge of the sport and organization but a great passion for the development of our youth. We are so excited to work with them and help grow the Foundation with their dedication.”

The new members bring a blend of high-level professional management and grassroots coaching experience to the board:

  • Kate Madigan: Currently the Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the New Jersey Devils, Madigan made history as the first female AGM in the franchise’s history. A key strategist for the team’s hockey operations, she oversees roster construction, transactions, and team operations.

  • Nicole Zajac: A former standout captain for the University of New Hampshire women’s hockey team and a Patty Kazmaier Award finalist, Zajac now focuses on youth development. She serves as the head coach for the New Jersey Colonials 8U girls team and holds a Master’s in Teaching, specializing in player-focused coaching environments.

“It is a tremendous honor to join the board and to help transform the lives of children through the meaningful experiences our organization provides both on and off the ice,” Madigan said regarding her new role.

The announcement comes on the heels of the second annual Devils Youth Foundation Day, held on Dec. 13, where the New Jersey Devils highlighted the work of community partners and welcomed local children to participate in various in-game features.

The Foundation is now looking forward to its signature fundraising event, “Devils Sweep the Deck,” scheduled for Feb. 2, 2026. During this gala, the Prudential Center ice will be converted into a curling rink and casino lounge, allowing guests to curl alongside current Devils players and alumni.
