World Cup Host Committee expected to announce initiative to help small business later today

Host Committee CEO Lasry to speak at ReNew Jersey Business Summit in Atlantic City

Alex Lasry, the CEO of the NY/NJ 2026 World Cup Host Committee, is expected to announce an initiative aimed at helping small businesses in the region later today at the ReNew Jersey Business Summit & Expo, BINJE has learned.

Lasry will speak at the Summit around 4:30.

The World Cup will begin June 11 with a match in Mexico City – but so much of the tournament will be held in the New Jersey region.

MetLife Stadium will host eight matches, from the first on June 13 (Brazil vs. Morocco) to the final on July 19.

Lincoln Financial Field will host six matches, including one to be held on July 4 as part of the country’s 250th birthday.

The event is expected to provide a $3 billion economic boost to the region. The initiative introduced by the Host Committee is an effort to help local businesses get a bigger piece of that economic pie.
