Garonit acquires former Siemens site in Flanders, to add 1,000 jobs

Fairfield-based API manufacturer says 320,000-square foot facility will be used to strengthen supply chain resilience

In a major win for the state, Fairfield-based Garonit Pharmaceutical announced Thursday that it has acquired the former Siemens Healthineers facility in Flanders — and that it intends to invest more than $200 million into the site over the next five years with plans to create up to 1,000 jobs.

Garonit, a premier API manufacturer and active pharmaceutical ingredient supplier, said the facility, based on 32 acres and more than 320,000 square feet in size, will serve as a major hub for Garonit’s expanding U.S. operations, supporting future finish dosage manufacturing and providing alternate API production capacity to strengthen supply chain resilience.

The jobs will be created across manufacturing, quality, engineering and administrative functions.

Nitin Garg and Rohit Garg, shareholders of the company, applauded the announcement.

“This acquisition represents a major step forward in our mission to build a robust U.S. based pharmaceutical manufacturing platform,” they said in a joint statement. “This investment expands our operational footprint while reinforcing our commitment to domestic manufacturing, supply chain reliability and long-term growth.”

The Gargs thanked Mt. Olive Joe Nicastro and Business Administrator Andrew Tatarenko for their efforts to complete the deal.

The Township, in a statement on its website, said Garonit Pharmaceutical will greatly contribute to the continued vitality of the community.

“The Township appreciates their investment and looks forward to their success for many years to come,” it wrote. “The decision to locate in Mount Olive is a strong reflection of the Township’s economic attractiveness, strategic location and overall quality of life.

“Their commitment to Mount Olive demonstrates confidence in our community.”

The Flanders facility further strengthens Garonit’s vertically integrated model, enabling end-to-end capabilities from intermediates to APIs through finished dosage products, with a strategic focus on infection prevention solutions, including CHG based formulations and pharmaceutical antiseptics.

Garonit describes itself as a premier API manufacturer and active pharmaceutical ingredient supplier, noting its manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and India, allows it to serve a global audience.
