Marking a dual milestone of its 65th anniversary in the borough and the opening of a new luxury rental community, Kaplan Companies officially cut the ribbon on “Camelot on Main Street” on June 16.
The 142-unit development represents the latest chapter in a multi-generational history between the Kaplan family and the Borough of Sayreville. Since the firm’s inception in 1961—which began with a single ranch house off Ernston Road—Kaplan Companies has constructed approximately 4,000 homes in the area, including iconic communities like La Mer and TowneLake.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured four generations of the Kaplan family, alongside local officials. Current president Jason Kaplan reflected on the company’s deep-rooted connection to the borough, noting that the business has thrived for over six decades based on “lasting trust and the importance of a handshake.”
“With this ribbon-cutting, we are celebrating much more than the opening of Camelot at Main Street,” Jason Kaplan said. “This is about recognizing an ongoing relationship with the Sayreville community, built on… a family business to a family town where many stay for generations.”
The new community is located on Drwal Place, a street named in honor of a local veteran family—a testament to Sayreville’s long-standing ordinance requiring new streets to be named after local military personnel. During the event, members of the Drwal family were honored for their service in World War II and subsequent conflicts.
In keeping with its commitment to community engagement, Kaplan Companies also presented a $1,000 donation to the Bombers Beyond Café on Main Street. The café, operated by the Sayreville School District’s Transitions program, provides essential vocational training to young adults with special needs.
Camelot on Main Street is designed to cater to a diverse group of residents, ranging from young professionals and commuters to empty nesters. The development, which has already received “Community of the Year” honors from both the New Jersey Builders Association and the Shore Builders Association of Central New Jersey, features an array of high-end amenities:
- Resort-style pool and a Resident Lounge.
- High-tech fitness center and Tot Lot.
- Pet-focused amenities, including a Bark Park and a Doggie Day Spa.
The one- and two-bedroom units feature modern kitchens and are positioned to appeal to those seeking a convenient, lifestyle-oriented living environment. Rents at the community begin at $2,150 per month.
