The Noyes Arts Garage of Stockton University is set to open three new summer exhibitions, offering a compelling blend of local history and contemporary art. The galleries will feature a documentary look at Atlantic City small businesses, as well as showcases from two prominent multidisciplinary artists.
Documenting resilience on Atlantic Ave
Perhaps the most poignant of the new arrivals is “Documenting Resilience on Atlantic Ave,” a project led by Stockton University faculty and students that explores the local impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through a combination of candid photography by adjunct faculty member Christina Walley and oral histories gathered by Assistant Professor of Business Studies Christy W. Goodnight, the exhibit highlights the challenges and endurance of city business owners. The collection serves as a visual and narrative record of how local enterprises navigated the shutdowns and the subsequent process of reopening. Featured prominently is a portrait of Executive Chef Stephan Johnson of the iconic Dock’s Oyster House.
The exhibition opens July 11 and will remain on display through September 24.
New perspectives in fine art
In addition to the historical documentation, the Arts Garage will host two exhibitions featuring the works of Jim Brossy and Thomas Murray:
- Jim Brossy: Opening July 4, this exhibit showcases Brossy’s unique “crackpot realism.” A Rutgers University alumnus, Brossy employs a diverse array of non-traditional media—including tar, latex, cement, and wax—alongside acrylics and pastels to create surfaces with deep textures and gravity. His exhibition runs through October 3.
- Thomas Murray: Also opening July 4, Murray’s exhibition, titled “Earth and Sky,” brings international influence to Atlantic City. The Rowan University professor, who has completed residencies in Italy and Mexico, is known for his multidisciplinary approach. His work has been featured in solo exhibitions across Florida and Texas. “Earth and Sky” will be on display through October 3.

The public is invited to a combined opening reception for all three exhibitions on Saturday, July 11, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Noyes Arts Garage, located at 2200 Fairmount Ave. in Atlantic City.
