Continuing its strong tradition of community impact, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association, New Jersey Chapter (CREDA NJ) recently brought together nearly 90 industry professionals for its Annual Community Action Food Drive & Volunteer Day at the Community Food Bank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) headquarters in Hillside.
In addition to rolling up their sleeves for a full day of service, CREDA NJ leadership presented a $5,000 corporate donation to support the food bank’s ongoing mission.
Throughout the morning and afternoon shifts, CREDA staff, members, and colleagues logged over 200 combined volunteer hours. The teams tackled vital packaging and preparation tasks to supply local families and individuals facing food insecurity:
- Morning Shift: Volunteers packed 1,080 Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) meal kits alongside 420 specialized boxes for local seniors.
- Afternoon Shift: Volunteers sorted and packed 1,746 bags of pasta and prepped 360 pounds of chicken.
Combined, the day’s efforts directly supported an average of over 18,000 meals distributed across the state.
“We are very grateful for the work that CFBNJ does for families in our communities, and we thank them for having us again this year,” Dan Kennedy, CREDA NJ CEO, said. “This experience is always a meaningful opportunity to step up and make a real difference for our neighbors throughout New Jersey. We were so glad to see so many people come out and volunteer their time.”
The Community Food Bank of New Jersey stands as the state’s largest anti-hunger and anti-poverty organization. Operating as a member of Feeding America, CFBNJ distributes more than 90 million nutritious meals annually through an extensive network of over 800 community partners, including local food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters.
