Kearny Bank Foundation pours more than $592,000 into local nonprofits

Community investment is taking center stage at Kearny Bank. The institution announced that its philanthropic arm, the KearnyBank Foundation, distributed a total of $592,295 to charitable organizations across New Jersey and New York during the 2026 fiscal year (running from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026).

The funding targeted five core pillars of community development: Community, Education, Housing, Quality of Life, and Scholarships.

From student financial literacy to critical housing repairs, the bank’s recent wave of grants touches numerous aspects of regional life. Notable contributions over the past year include:

  • Junior Achievement of New Jersey: Received the single largest grant at $65,000 to bolster student financial literacy and career readiness programming.
  • Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark: Awarded $50,000 to fund its vital Critical Repair Program.
  • Student Scholarships: $32,500 was dedicated directly to high-achieving high school students across New Jersey.
  • Community and Quality of Life Initiatives: Highlight grants included $18,000 to Tovah for its annual Back2School Store (where Kearny Bank employees also rolled up their sleeves to volunteer), an $18,000 sponsorship for the Robeson Classic High School All-Star Football Game, $15,000 to the Our House Foundation for a new group home in Summit, $15,000 to the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton, and $14,000 to the Student/Partner Alliance.

“Supporting organizations that strengthen our communities is central to Kearny Bank’s mission,” Craig Montanaro, president and CEO of Kearny Bank, said. “Whether helping students prepare for the future, expanding access to housing, supporting families and young people, or making similarly essential investments, we’re proud to partner with nonprofits that make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”
