The NJ TRANSIT Board of Directors has officially appointed Daniel Rogust as senior vice president and general manager of NJ TRANSIT Rail Operations, removing the “acting” tag from a title he has held since Aug. 1. Rogust brings more than two decades of extensive railroad industry experience to the permanent leadership role.
“Dan has worked at every level of this railroad,” NJ TRANSIT President and CEO Kris Kolluri said. “That depth of technical knowledge, paired with a collaborative approach that’s earned him wide respect among colleagues and industry partners, makes him exceptionally well-suited to lead Rail Operations.”
Rogust’s career with NJ TRANSIT spans back to 2002, when he originally started as a Car Appearance Maintainer. Over the next two decades, he steadily advanced through various mechanical maintenance positions, including Lead Carman-Air Technician, General Foreman of the Locomotive Shop, and subsequent senior leadership roles within the Mechanical Department.
After gaining additional private-sector experience leading large-scale locomotive maintenance programs with Siemens Mobility, Rogust returned to NJ TRANSIT in 2023. He initially served as General Superintendent of the Hoboken Division for the Mechanical Department before most recently holding the position of Deputy General Manager of Equipment.
In his new post, Rogust succeeds James Sincaglia, who retired on July 31 following a 30-year career with the transit agency. Having managed day-to-day rail operations on an interim basis over the past month and a half, Rogust steps into the permanent leadership position with deep institutional knowledge of NJ TRANSIT’s rolling stock, mechanical infrastructure, and operational network.
