Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE&G) teamed up with local small business leaders and municipal officials in Jersey City to spotlight how energy efficiency programs are successfully fueling local economic activity across New Jersey.
Hosted at Jewel Electric Supply—a longtime Jersey City small business and midstream distributor in PSE&G’s Commercial & Industrial Midstream Prescriptive Program since 2021—the event emphasized how collaborative green initiatives support contractors, businesses, and consumers alike.
The gathering followed the release of PSE&G’s 2025 Energy Efficiency Economic Impact Study, which revealed substantial state-wide returns:
- High Economic Multiplier: Every $1 invested in the analyzed 2025 program activity generated $2.85 in economic output, culminating in more than $1.15 billion in total economic impact.
- Job Creation: The initiatives supported 4,737 jobs throughout the region.
- Wages and Tax Revenue: Program activity accounted for approximately $467 million in wages and generated roughly $164 million in local, state, and federal tax revenue.
During the event, Jewel Electric Supply owner Julie Sczesnik shared how participating in PSE&G’s midstream distributor network has helped expand the company’s regional reach, connecting them with contractors and clients they might not have otherwise reached.
PSE&G Vice President of Clean Energy Solutions – Customer Solutions Lauren Thomas underscored the critical role that local commercial partners play in rolling out statewide energy efficiency measures.
The event also drew prominent regional leaders, including Jersey City Mayor James Solomon and New Jersey 32nd Legislative District Assemblyman Ravi Bhalla, who both discussed the vital intersection of sustainable infrastructure, local business growth, and community resilience in New Jersey.
