Public Service Enterprise Group (PSEG) officially released its 2026 Sustainability Report, offering a comprehensive look at the company’s progress in strengthening energy infrastructure, advancing environmental stewardship, and supporting customers and communities across its service territory.
The report details PSEG’s ongoing initiatives to balance reliability, affordability, and sustainability as regional energy needs evolve. Highlights include significant reductions in operational emissions, multi-million dollar community investments, and high marks for customer satisfaction and grid resiliency.
“For more than 120 years, PSEG has been a partner to the communities we serve,” Ralph LaRossa, chair, president, and CEO of PSEG, said. “A lot has changed during that time, but our responsibility has remained consistent: provide the reliable energy our customers depend on, keep it as affordable as possible and invest wisely for the future.”
Key sustainability and environmental milestones
PSEG’s latest report underscores tangible progress across its operational footprint, driven by key achievements:
- Emissions Reductions: Achieved a 95% reduction in total Scope 1 and Scope 2 operational greenhouse gas emissions compared to the 2005 baseline.
- Waste Recycling: Recycled more than 91% of all waste generated by the utility in 2025.
- Nuclear Energy Contribution: Highlighted the enduring value of PSEG Nuclear generating plants in Salem County, which provide roughly 40% of New Jersey’s total energy and 80% of the state’s carbon-free power.
- Customer Energy Efficiency: Energy efficiency programs have successfully helped participating residential, commercial, and industrial customers save an estimated $1 billion annually.
Industry recognition and economic impact
In addition to environmental performance, PSE&G—PSEG’s electric and natural gas utility serving roughly 2.4 million electric and 1.9 million gas customers—earned major industry accolades in 2025:
- J.D. Power Distinction: Named Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Residential Electric Service in the East Region among Large Utilities for the fourth consecutive year.
- ReliabilityOne® Awards: Received the National Award for Outstanding System Resiliency and the MidAtlantic Metropolitan Reliability Award for the 24th straight year.
PSEG also emphasized its robust local economic footprint. In 2025, the company conducted $2.4 billion worth of business with New Jersey-based companies, accounting for 69% of its total spend, while workforce development initiatives supported more than 11,000 new clean energy sector jobs to date.
Philanthropic efforts remained a core focus in 2025, with $12.8 million in combined corporate and PSEG Foundation giving, including a $1.5 million Community Relief initiative deployed in December 2025.
