The American Water Charitable Foundation took center stage in high-level philanthropic discussions today at The Women Who Lead Forum in New York City.
Hosted as an American Red Cross Women in Philanthropy event, the exclusive, invite-only forum convenes prominent women executives, entrepreneurs, and changemakers to examine how leadership, expertise, and strategic resources can drive meaningful community impact.
Carrie Williams—President of the American Water Charitable Foundation, as well as an American Red Cross Southern New Jersey Chapter Board Member and New Jersey Regional Council Member—participated in a panel session titled “Innovation Shaping the Future of Disaster Response.”
During the session, Williams shared insights on disaster philanthropy, community investment, and the core business case for cultivating resilient local populations. She also emphasized the Foundation’s long-standing alliance with the American Red Cross through its Disaster Responder Program, illustrating how cross-sector partnerships benefit both American Water and the regions it serves.
Established by American Water—the nation’s largest regulated water and wastewater utility company—the Foundation focuses its philanthropic efforts across three main pillars: Water, People, and Communities. Since 2012, it has directed more than $25 million in grants and matching gifts to support eligible organizations across the country.
