The KearnyBank Foundation has awarded a $10,000 grant to Interfaith Neighbors, an Asbury Park-based nonprofit organization dedicated to community strengthening. This marks the first time the foundation has provided funding to the organization.
The financial support will directly back Interfaith Neighbors’ Financial Empowerment Initiative, which conducts free, four-week quarterly workshops designed to equip area residents with essential personal finance skills, reduce money-related intimidation, and foster long-term financial stability.
“Contributing to an incredible organization like Interfaith Neighbors is an honor for Kearny Bank,” Taryn Rockwell, Executive Director of the KearnyBank Foundation, said. “What this nonprofit does within the Asbury Park community is remarkable, and we’re eager to embrace this opportunity to support it in helping area residents build greater financial confidence and security.”
Interfaith Neighbors runs a diverse suite of vital community programs across the region, including:
- Meals on Wheels and senior nutrition services
- Rental and mortgage assistance aimed at preventing homelessness
- Affordable housing development
- The Dr. Lorenzo Harris Jr. Early Childhood Learning Center
- The Launch Center for career training and community growth
- Kula Urban Farm
Additionally, the organization is currently developing several major community assets, including the Marmora Family Community & Education Center (which will serve as its new headquarters and incorporate affordable housing), the Asbury Park Museum, and expanded neighborhood services.
Since 2020, the KearnyBank Foundation has distributed more than $4.5 million in grants to nonprofits throughout New Jersey and neighboring areas, focusing primarily on education, housing, community betterment, and quality-of-life initiatives.
