North Jersey’s Brown, Moskowitz & Kallen joins Stevens & Lee; continues regional expansion

Stevens & Lee and Chatham-based Brown, Moskowitz & Kallen, P.C. have joined forces, marking Stevens & Lee’s third office in New Jersey and its 18th overall.

This is the fourth acquisition for Stevens & Lee since June 1, following the addition of 16 lawyers in Providence, RI, three lawyers in Bergen County and the opening of the firm’s Pittsburgh office.

“Brown, Moskowitz & Kallen’s strong and deep relationships with the business community in New Jersey and New York, combined with its exceptional legal talent make the firm a natural fit for Stevens & Lee,” Stevens & Lee President and CEO William P. Thornton, Jr. said.

“Stuart Brown, Kenneth Moskowitz, Norman Kallen and Keith Marlowe, together with their talented team of lawyers, serve as trusted advisors to middle-market clients in New Jersey and New York,” Thornton said. “They understand their clients’ businesses and industries and are committed to relationship-driven service at the highest level.”

An eight-attorney firm serving privately held businesses for more than 25 years, Brown, Moskowitz & Kallen provides comprehensive counsel to owners at every stage of the business life cycle from formation through growth to exit. The firm’s litigators also represent business clients in a wide range of commercial and other disputes.

A full-service firm with more than 200 lawyers, Stevens & Lee brings experience in labor and employment, employee benefits, intellectual property, immigration, tax and health care to supplement Brown, Moskowitz & Kallen’s core corporate, litigation and real estate services.

“Our focus has always been on providing business owners with the advice and service they need to achieve their objectives,” Stuart Brown, co-founder and managing partner of Brown, Moskowitz & Kallen said. “Working closely with clients as a team of professional advisors is what we do best, and this approach has allowed us to help some of our region’s top businesses tackle complex issues, execute strategic plans and drive entity growth.”

“Joining Stevens & Lee is a natural ‘next step’ in our firm’s trajectory, supplementing our litigation capabilities with a bench 60-attorneys deep and adding bandwidth to support clients in M&A and corporate and commercial real estate matters,” Kenneth Moskowitz, co-founder and partner of Brown, Moskowitz & Kallen said. “The opportunities for long-term growth for our clients and our team here in Chatham are very exciting.”
