Mental Health Association in New Jersey receives $112,500 grant from KPMG U.S. Foundation

The Mental Health Association in New Jersey (MHANJ) received a three-year, $112,500 grant from the KPMG U.S. Foundation. The funding will support MHANJ’s mission to help people overcome mental illness and substance use disorders through advocacy, education, training, and services.

This grant is part of a nationwide initiative by KPMG, which is awarding more than $2 million this summer to organizations dedicated to increasing mental well-being and building healthy communities.

Carolyn Beauchamp, MHANJ’s President and CEO, expressed her gratitude for the grant.

“Their generous support will help us expand our advocacy and educational efforts. By engaging with people on a grassroots level across the state, we educate them about how to identify and begin to address mental health issues in the early stages to prevent more serious outcomes. It also helps to break the stigma of mental illness and substance use conditions that often keep people from seeking the help that they need,” she said.

The KPMG U.S. Foundation said it is committed to reducing the stigma around mental health and boosting access to services.

Jeff Knight, KPMG’s Short Hills Office Managing Partner, and Arun Rajappa, KPMG’s Montvale Office Managing Principal, both highlighted the importance of the work MHANJ performs.

“Their work advancing mental health awareness and access to care is vital to the well-being of our communities,” Knight said, while Rajappa added that the grant reflects a shared commitment to making a “meaningful difference across New Jersey.”

The MHANJ is a statewide nonprofit organization with a history of more than 80 years of improving the lives of individuals with mental illness and substance use disorders. It works to create a strong network of support and services for people and their families coping with behavioral health issues.
