The Township of Montclair has selected The Sports Facilities Companies (SFC), a national leader in sports facility management, to oversee the revitalization and operation of the Clary Anderson Arena. This partnership aims to breathe new life into the historic ice rink, which has served the community since the 1970s.
The arena was saved from potential closure earlier this year by a community-driven effort, and the new partnership with SFC will ensure its long-term future. Stephen Marks, Montclair Township manager, expressed confidence in the collaboration.
“With SFC bringing its expertise and proven track record, I am confident we can elevate our venue into a vibrant, multi-generational hub that will serve our community for decades to come,” he said.
The planned operational transition will focus on improving the venue’s programming, guest services, and overall maintenance. SFC will continue to support local organizations, including Montclair High School and Montclair Kimberley Academy, as well as various youth hockey clubs. The plan also includes expanding adult hockey leagues, camps, and community events, which aligns with SFC’s mission to boost financial performance while increasing recreational opportunities.
As part of the revitalization, the arena will receive a refreshed brand identity with a new logo that honors the “Clary Anderson” name, as well as an updated website and social media presence. According to Rita Mitchell, Regional Ice Venue manager for SFC, the immediate goal is to optimize operations and ensure the arena’s long-term sustainability.
Clary Anderson Arena will now join the extensive SF Network, a portfolio of more than 90 properties nationwide managed by SFC. This move solidifies the venue’s place as a key asset in the community’s identity.
