Middletown unveils new DMR-designed veterans housing facility in Campbell’s Junction

The Township of Middletown celebrated a significant milestone for its large veteran population with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Nov.2, marking the completion of a new, purpose-built veterans housing facility.

The 22,000-square-foot Middletown Veterans Housing development, designed by DMR Architects, is located in the heart of Campbell’s Junction. It offers 12 residential units of much-needed affordable housing for eligible veterans in one of New Jersey’s communities with the highest veteran populations.

Beyond the private living spaces, the facility was thoughtfully designed to foster a sense of connection and comfort among residents. The communal features were developed in close consultation with Middletown’s Veterans Affairs Committee and include:

  • Activity rooms and lounges equipped with televisions.
  • Pool and game tables.
  • A relaxing front porch designed for socializing.
  • Patriotic elements, including American, MIA, and KIA flagpoles.
  • A stone memorial at the entrance to honor fallen heroes.

Middletown Mayor Tony Perry expressed his pride in the long-awaited project.

“The Township Committee and I are very proud to see this project come to fruition after years of hard work, partnership, and dedication,” Perry said. “Our veterans have given their all to grant us the freedoms we have today. This affordable housing complex is just a small token of our everlasting appreciation for their bravery and sacrifices.”

The new facility replaces a long-vacant site, formerly a tool rental company, with a vibrant, community-serving development within a growing commercial corridor. Its location near transportation hubs and local businesses is expected to contribute to the area’s broader revitalization efforts.

Pradeep Kapoor, president & CEO of DMR Architects, highlighted the firm’s approach. “We are honored to support Middletown’s commitment to its veterans through a design that prioritizes comfort, connection, and quality,” Kapoor said. “Our focus was to deliver a thoughtfully planned facility that balances function, quality of life, and community integration for our veterans.”

The ribbon-cutting event drew a crowd of key stakeholders, including Mayor Tony Perry, members of the Middletown Committee and Township officials, representatives from DMR Architects, and community members essential to bringing the project to life.
