Stockton University expands academic offerings with new certificates and streamlined community college transfer pathways

Responding to growing demand from students and regional employers, Stockton University has announced the launch of several new academic certificates, a mathematics-economics interdisciplinary concentration, and a slate of seamless community college transfer pathways beginning this fall.

Housing two new 16-credit, four-course credential programs within the School of Business, Stockton is broadening opportunities for students across all disciplines:

Entrepreneurship certificate: Designed to help students build, launch, and scale businesses, the curriculum covers Market Discovery and Innovation, Venture Launch and Growth, Entrepreneurial Finance, and Global Entrepreneurship.

“The skills Entrepreneurship students learn… are highly transferrable as business owners or industry leaders,” Monica Amadio, assistant professor of Business Management and founding chair of the entrepreneurship degree program, said.

Business Fundamentals in Hospitality Certificate: Offering foundational training in accounting, marketing, human resources, and business law, this program prepares students for leadership roles across diverse sectors.

“Whether you’re majoring in Healthcare, Psychology, Criminal Justice… every industry needs professionals who understand how organizations operate,” Noel Criscione-Naylor, professor of Hospitality and Tourism and Event Management Studies, said. Students already majoring in Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management are automatically enrolled in the certificate without extra coursework or tuition.

In addition to these certificates, Stockton introduced a new interdisciplinary program allowing Mathematics majors to earn a minor in Economics, preparing graduates for quantitative research, consulting, and graduate studies.

Strengthening regional higher education collaboration, Stockton has established new articulation agreements and transfer pathways from New Jersey community colleges.

Through partnerships via the South Jersey Higher Education Alliance, students can now easily transfer from Atlantic Cape Community College associate degree programs into Stockton bachelor’s degree tracks:

  • AAS in Aviation Studies → BA in Business Administration
  • AAS in Esports → BS in Esports Management
  • AAS in Culinary Arts / Food Service Management / Hospitality Management → BS in Hospitality, Tourism & Event Management

Additionally, a new agreement with Essex County College creates a streamlined transition for graduates holding an Associate of Applied Science in New Media Technology into Stockton’s Bachelor of Arts in Digital Studies.

“These new academic offerings give Stockton students more flexible, practical pathways to pursue their interests and prepare for the opportunities ahead,” Tracey Meilander, associate provost for Curriculum & Compliance said.
