Englewood Hospital earns its first top-five ranking by U.S. News & World Report

Englewood Hospital has been ranked in the top five of the prestigious U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals rankings, which were released Tuesday morning.

The ranking is quite a leap for Englewood, which was ranked in a tie for 10th in 2025. Englewood was ranked in a tie for No. 21 in the New York City metro area.

Hackensack University Medical Center was again ranked No. 1 in the state, followed by Atlantic Health Morristown, Atlantic Health Overland and Cooper University Medical Center.

Englewood Health CEO Warren Geller obviously was thrilled.

“Every day, our physicians, nurses, and team members bring extraordinary skill, compassion, and commitment to the patients who trust us with their care,” he said. “To be recognized among New Jersey’s leading hospitals is a proud moment for our entire organization — and motivation to keep raising the bar for the communities we serve.”

Englewood Hospital was rated High Performing in 10 procedures and conditions:

  • Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair
  • Colon cancer surgery
  • Heart arrhythmia
  • Heart failure
  • Hip fracture
  • Lung cancer surgery
  • Pacemaker implantation
  • Stroke
  • Transcatheter aortic valve replacement
  • Maternity

U.S. News evaluated hospitals across 37 types of care using risk-adjusted data from more than 800 million patient records.

Of the more than 4,400 hospitals evaluated nationwide, Englewood Hospital is among the 16% that earned a numerical ranking. The recognition reflects the hospital’s strong performance, clinical expertise, and commitment to delivering high-quality care across a broad range of services.

Englewood is the only single-entity hospital to earn a Top Ten ranking in New Jersey.

That distinction may not last long.

Englewood has entered into a definitive agreement to merge with RWJBarnabas Health.

RWJBH had two hospitals in the Top Ten: Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick and Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston each ranked No. 6 in New Jersey and No. 23 in the New York Metro Area.
