Hopewell-based ProBio celebrates major regulatory milestone for global biologics facility

ProBio Inc., a prominent global contract research, development, and manufacturing organization (CRDMO) operating out of its Hopewell footprint, has reached a significant international milestone. The company announced the successful completion of a Pre-Approval Inspection (PAI) by China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) at its state-of-the-art biologics manufacturing facility in Nanjing, China.

The successful audit marks a major step forward in ProBio’s continuous expansion of its global Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) capabilities and regulatory readiness, reinforcing the company’s positioning as a trusted partner for biopharmaceutical developers navigating the complex journey from early-stage discovery to commercialization.

For biotech and pharmaceutical firms, passing a PAI is a critical hurdle that demonstrates a facility’s rigorous quality systems, operational discipline, and readiness to meet the strict regulatory expectations associated with commercial drug manufacturing.

The recent inspection specifically validated a client program where ProBio supported the sponsor continuously from the initial Investigational New Drug (IND) stage all the way through Biologics License Application (BLA) submission.

“This milestone reflects the strength of our quality organization and biologics manufacturing operations, as well as the investments we have made to build a reliable platform for our customers,” said Allen Guo, CEO of ProBio. “As our customers advance programs toward commercialization, they need a manufacturing partner with the capabilities, quality systems and operational discipline to support increasingly demanding regulatory requirements.”

While the inspected manufacturing site is located in Nanjing, ProBio’s overarching quality infrastructure is designed to satisfy compliance standards across major global markets, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

From its operational presence in Hopewell, New Jersey, ProBio bridges domestic biopharmaceutical sponsors with its extensive global development and manufacturing network. This model allows U.S. and European developers to tap into integrated end-to-end services—including:

  • Cell Line Development: Establishing stable, high-yielding clones for scalable production.
  • Process & Analytical Development: Designing robust upstream and downstream workflows alongside deep product characterization.
  • Formulation & GMP Manufacturing: Delivering submission-ready formulations and seamless tech transfer for clinical and commercial supply.

As biopharmaceutical companies increasingly scrutinize CRDMO partners for late-stage and commercial pipelines, maintaining a proven manufacturing track record and robust quality framework is paramount. ProBio’s latest NMPA milestone underscores its ongoing commitment to supply continuity, operational scalability, and regulatory excellence worldwide.

For U.S. sponsors and New Jersey’s vibrant life sciences sector, the achievement highlights ProBio’s capacity to streamline complex global pathways from lab bench to commercial market. To learn more about ProBio’s end-to-end biologics capabilities, visit ProBio’s Official Website.
