Colliers announced the return of commercial real estate veteran Seth Hecht to its New York office as senior vice president. While the role is based in the city, Hecht’s return represents a significant reinforcement for the firm’s broader footprint, enhancing its ability to serve the robust flow of commercial real estate activity between New York City and the surrounding New Jersey suburbs.
Hecht, who brings 20 years of industry expertise to the firm, previously spent nine years at Colliers from 2006 to 2014. He rejoins the team after high-level leadership roles at JLL and Cushman & Wakefield, where he built a strong reputation for advising firms in the financial services, media, and technology sectors—industries that frequently maintain dual operations across the Hudson River.
With many of the corporations Hecht has advised over the past two decades maintaining significant presences in both Manhattan and New Jersey’s corporate hubs, his return is expected to benefit clients looking for a unified regional strategy. His deep knowledge of the New York City market, combined with his experience representing major firms that often weigh office leasing options on both sides of the river, makes him a strategic asset for the firm’s regional brokerage platform.
In his new position, Hecht will represent both landlords and tenants, delivering tailored real estate solutions that align with the complex, cross-market business objectives of today’s employers.
Colliers leadership views Hecht’s return as a key move in a larger strategy to expand its influence across the metropolitan area.
“Seth’s return is a testament to the strength of our culture and the strategic investments we’re making across our New York business,” John Gallagher, executive managing director at Colliers. “His longstanding industry relationships and market expertise make him an invaluable addition to our team, and we are thrilled to welcome him back.”
For Hecht, the move is a homecoming to a firm that helped define his early career.
“I’m thrilled to come back to Colliers and reconnect with a team that has played an instrumental role in my career,” Hecht said. “The firm has built incredible momentum in New York, and I’m eager to leverage my experience to help clients navigate an evolving market and achieve their goals.”
Hecht holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Penn State University. He is expected to hit the ground running, focusing on deepening client relationships that span the New York-New Jersey corridor.
