The wait is over for New Jersey bagel enthusiasts as PopUp Bagels officially opened its first Garden State location today at 220 South Avenue in Westfield.
The arrival of the award-winning concept—known for its signature “Grip. Rip. Dip.” experience—marks a major milestone in the brand’s aggressive expansion strategy, which includes plans for more than 25 locations across New Jersey.
Founded in 2020, PopUp Bagels has built a cult-like following by disrupting the traditional bagel shop model. Instead of serving pre-sliced bagels intended for sandwiches, the brand focuses on baking fresh batches throughout the day. Customers are served hot, whole bagels paired with a rotating selection of signature whipped schmears and flavored butters, encouraging them to “Grip, Rip, and Dip.”
The brand’s uncompromising commitment to quality has earned it back-to-back “Best Bagel” titles at the Brooklyn Bagelfest and established a strong footprint across New York, Connecticut, and Florida.
The new 1,500-square-foot shop is situated in a high-visibility freestanding building near the Westfield Transit train station. Its location serves as an ideal bridge between the town’s commuter population and the vibrant, walkable downtown core.
“We’re excited to welcome PopUp Bagels to Westfield,” Sidney Singer, vice president of leasing at Levin Management Corporation said, which represented the landlord in the transaction. “Its unique concept has generated tremendous enthusiasm, and this location is an outstanding fit. Adjacent to the Westfield train station and just steps from downtown, the property provides exceptional visibility and convenience for commuters, residents and visitors.”
The opening was facilitated by Mike Testa and Matt Kenderian of Catalyst Commercial Real Estate, who represented PopUp Bagels in the deal.
PopUp Bagels is now open at 220 South Avenue, adding a fast-growing, highly anticipated culinary name to Westfield’s thriving restaurant and retail scene.
