SJP Properties names Chung head of acquisitions

SJP Properties has hired Paul Chung as its new Head of Acquisitions, the company announced Tuesday.

In the role, Chung will help lead the acquisition and development of Class-A office and industrial buildings, residential properties, and mixed-use projects across the New Jersey and New York metropolitan area, as well as select markets in the Southeast.

SJP Founder and CEO Steve Pozycki applauded the announcement.

“Paul’s experience leading acquisitions and capital market initiatives makes him an excellent addition to our team and our vision for commercial real estate across the region,” he said.

Chung joins SJP Properties from Quinlan Development Group, where he served as Head of Acquisitions and oversaw more than $500 million in equity and debt transactions, representing over $1.2 billion in total capitalization. While there, he also launched the firm’s self-storage development platform, set up a joint venture with PGIM, and worked six ground-up projects through the full development cycle.

Before Quinlan, Chung was a partner and director of acquisitions and capital markets at Solomon Builders, where he raised and closed more than $92 million in project financing. He has also held roles at Wildflower LTD (formerly Madison Development) and Resource Real Estate over a career that spans more than a decade across multifamily, office, retail, industrial and self-storage assets.

Chung, a Penn grad, said he was thrilled to join the team.

“Few developers combine the vision and execution that make SJP Properties one of the preeminent leaders in the industry,” he said. “I’m thrilled to join an organization of this caliber and to bring my diverse background to the team.”

SJP Properties is one of the nation’s largest multi-purpose real estate developers and property managers.

The hire of Chung adds to a firm with nearly 50 years in the industry. SJP Properties has developed and acquired more than 30 million square feet of property over its history and completed $6.5 billion in real estate transactions, positioning it as one of the region’s more established vertically integrated developers, with operations spanning development, investment, construction, and asset management.

SJP Properties’ portfolio currently exceeds 25 million square feet, with a focus on Class-A office, residential and mixed-use projects — including life science and GMP laboratory facilities.

Among other projects, it currently is known for developing the new headquarters for Nokia Bell Labs at the HELIX in New Brunswick.
