Square Market announced as first retail tenant at Jersey City’s West Side Square

The West Side Square Development Fund, a four-partner team comprised of Lanterra DevelopmentsWestdale PropertiesLantree Developments, and Altree Developments, officially secured its first retail tenant for the highly anticipated mixed-use project at 1075 West Side Avenue. Square Market will bring a new, convenient grocery and essential goods destination to the ground floor of the development, located in the heart of Jersey City’s emerging Marion neighborhood.

The new market will occupy 1,500 square feet of retail space, serving as a vital amenity for both the building’s future residents and the surrounding community. Bobby Antonicello Jr. of GRID Commercial Real Estate Advisors served as the broker for both sides of the lease transaction.

The addition of Square Market is a cornerstone of the developers’ broader vision to transform West Side Square into a vibrant, self-sustaining neighborhood destination rather than just a residential complex.

“We have always envisioned West Side Square to be much more than just a place to start and end the day,” Raphael Mandelbaum, principal at Lantree Developments said. “Our retail leasing strategy is a key piece of that mission. Welcoming Square Market as our first retail tenant is another step toward realizing our vision of creating a vibrant neighborhood destination, and we are excited to announce additional retail tenants in the months to come.”

Dixit Patel of Square Market echoed the sentiment, noting the company’s eagerness to embed itself in the Marion community. “We are excited to join West Side Square and provide residents with easy access to essential items close to home,” Patel said.

West Side Square is poised for its grand opening, with the first residents scheduled to move in this August. The 477-unit development is designed to offer a modern urban lifestyle, featuring:

  • Residential Variety: A mix of studios, one-, two-, and three-bedroom layouts, including townhome-style residences.
  • Resort-Style Amenities: A rooftop pool, fitness center, yoga room, pet-friendly facilities, and 24-hour doorman service.
  • Professional Management: The property is being managed by Greystar, the global leader in rental housing.
