Walters, a Barnegat-based real estate developer, officially celebrated the grand opening of Cornerstone at Hainesport on Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The new LEED®-certified community, located at 2801 Creek Road, introduces 72 premium income-restricted rental homes to the Burlington County region.
The event saw attendance from key local stakeholders, including Hainesport Township Mayor Andy Dick, Committeewoman Anna Evans, and Committeeman Ken Montgomery, along with representatives from Burlington County and local emergency services.
Completed earlier this year, the community has already reached 70 percent occupancy, a testament to the significant demand for high-quality, sustainable affordable housing in South Jersey.
“We are proud to create a place that families can call home, and we remain committed to being a long-term presence in this community,” Joseph Del Duca, partner and director of affordable housing for Walters said. “Throughout the process, we worked closely with local officials and community stakeholders to ensure this project reflected the needs and priorities of Hainesport.”
Cornerstone at Hainesport features 72 one-, two-, and three-bedroom apartments distributed across six buildings. The community is open to households earning up to 60 percent of the area’s median income, with rental rates tailored to individual gross annual income.
The community emphasizes both aesthetic quality and resident convenience, featuring signature interior finishes, open floor plans, and in-unit washers and dryers. Residents have access to a robust amenity package, including:
- A state-of-the-art fitness center.
- A community clubhouse featuring computer workstations.
- Outdoor recreational areas, including a children’s playground and BBQ facilities.
- Support services, including a staffed social service coordinator available by request.
Situated along the banks of the Rancocas Creek near the Mount Laurel border, the community offers residents a blend of small-town atmosphere and urban connectivity. The location provides easy access to essential retail, dining, and healthcare services, while major transit corridors—including Route 38, Route 541, and I-295—ensure direct commuting routes to Philadelphia and major South Jersey employment centers.
Walters, a privately held real estate firm known for environmentally responsible building practices, managed the project from concept to completion. The firm continues to be an active developer of both income-restricted and market-rate housing across New Jersey.
