Hammonton Walmart unveils transformation with community celebration and $9K in local grants

Local officials, community leaders, and South Jersey residents gathered at 55 S White House Pike in Hammonton this week to celebrate the grand re-opening of the Hammonton Walmart following a comprehensive, multi-million-dollar store modernization.

The store unveiled a wide range of upgraded facilities, enhanced shopping departments, and expanded digital fulfillment capabilities designed to streamline the customer experience both in-store and online.

Originally opened in 1995, the 75,000-square-foot location is one of 12 Walmart stores in New Jersey undergoing major renovations this year as part of the retailer’s broader state initiative. Over the past five years, Walmart has invested $173 million across its New Jersey footprint to modernize its retail spaces.

What’s new at the Hammonton Store

The newly renovated location introduces several major infrastructure and service upgrades:

  • Modernized In-Store Departments: Redesigned layouts and upgraded merchandise displays across Beauty, Electronics, and Fashion, featuring elevated brand offerings and interactive displays.

  • Upgraded Pharmacy & Vision Care: An expanded health center featuring newly integrated privacy screens, redesigned consultation areas, and faster checkout options.

  • Expanded Pickup & Delivery Services: Enhanced infrastructure for digital order fulfillment, including Curbside Pickup, Fast Delivery (under 3 hours), Express Delivery (as fast as 30 minutes), and InHome Delivery.

$9,000 awarded to local organizations

To mark the occasion, store leadership presented $9,000 in community grants to several Atlantic County organizations and civic groups:

Recipient Grant Amount
NJ Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce $5,000
Hammonton Fire Department $1,000
Hammonton Police Department $1,000
Hammonton High School Marching Band Boosters $1,000
American Legion Post 186 $1,000

The celebration featured remarks and a ribbon-cutting ceremony with key local figures, including Mayor Steven Furgione, Councilperson Renee Rodio, Town Communications Director Adam Monacelli, Assemblyman Anthony Angelozzi, and Ty Wilson, Executive Director of the Hammonton Revitalization Corp and Mainstreet Hammonton.

Shoppers visiting the store throughout the day can participate in product giveaways, free vendor sampling from brands like Snyder’s, Mission, Goya, and Nestlé, and interactive in-store experiences.
